Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party and announced his defection to the Accord Party, ending weeks of speculation over his political future.

PLATFORM TIMES reports that Adeleke confirmed his exit in a letter addressed to the PDP Chairman of Ward 2, Sagba Abogunde, in Ede North Local Government Area, dated November 4, 2025.

The letter, which became public on Tuesday, cited unresolved internal crises within the national hierarchy of the PDP as the reason for his decision.

“Due to the current crisis within the national leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), I hereby resign my membership of the party with immediate effect,” Adeleke wrote.

The governor expressed appreciation to the PDP for the platform that produced his rise from a senator representing Osun West to the state’s chief executive.

“I thank the People’s Democratic Party for the opportunities given to me for my elections as a Senator and as Governor of Osun State,” he stated.

Hours after the resignation letter surfaced, Adeleke announced the Accord Party as his new political home.

The declaration, monitored during a Tuesday evening broadcast, ended widespread speculation that the governor was set to realign politically ahead of the next election cycle.

Sources within Osun’s political circles had earlier hinted that Adeleke was considering Accord after consultations with key allies.

His defection marks one of the most significant political shifts in the state since his assumption of office.

Neither the PDP nor the Accord Party had issued an official reaction as of press time.
