The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike has warned political office holders against supporting individuals he described as betrayers, saying such actions would attract similar treatment in return.

Wike spoke on Saturday in Port Harcourt during the commissioning of the Rivers State Renewed Hope Ambassadors headquarters, where he addressed politicians across different levels of government.

Speaking during the event, the former Rivers State governor said those who encourage betrayal in politics should expect to face the same consequences in their careers and personal lives.

He said, “Whoever is watching this programme, whether you’re a senator, whether you’re a House of Lords member, whether you’re a minister, or whether you’re the governor, and you support betrayers, people will continue to betray you in life.”

The minister repeated his warning, stressing that political leaders who align with individuals he described as disloyal would eventually suffer the effects of such decisions.

“Whether you’re a senator, whether you’re a member of the House of Representatives, whether you’re a minister, and whether you’re the governor, you sit down and support those who betray. Betrayal is your portion,” he said.

Wike added that political actors seeking second terms or planning to install successors should be wary of encouraging disloyalty within their camps.

“Every governor who is doing a second term, who has ambition to put a successor, and is supporting betrayal, you will never survive it. Betrayal will follow you from the day your successor comes in,” he said.

He further stated, “That is what the gods of the land have told me to tell all of you. And what I tell you is the truth.”

The commissioning ceremony drew political supporters and stakeholders from across Rivers State.

Wike has been at odds with his successor in the state, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the ruling All Progressives Congress in December 2025, a move that has reshaped political alignments and heightened factional strife in the state.
