The Bauchi State Police Command has honoured PUNCH Newspapers with an award in recognition of its professional journalism and contribution to peace promotion in the state.

The award was presented at the command’s 2025 End-of-Year Party and Award Dinner held on Sunday night in Bauchi.

Our correspondent reports that The PUNCH emerged as the only print medium recognised at the event, while Channels Television clinched the award in the television category.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, said the contributions of the awardees were instrumental to the command’s achievements over the year.

Aliyu noted that the police had recorded significant successes in the fight against crime and criminality across the state.

“We have recorded tremendous successes in fighting crimes and criminality. This has been made possible through the contributions of all stakeholders, including His Excellency and the Bauchi State Government,” he said.

Thus, the CP urged the media and other stakeholders to sustain their support for the command’s community policing strategy, stressing that collaborations remain key to maintaining peace and security.

On his part, the Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, congratulated the police command on its achievements and commended the award recipients for their roles in promoting peace.

Represented by his deputy, Auwal Jatau, the governor pledged his continued support for the police and other sister security agencies in the state.

He added that his administration would not treat security issues with kid gloves, assuring residents of the government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property.

Other awardees were the Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, the First Lady of Bauchi State, Aishatu Bala Mohammed, the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Abubakar Sulaiman and men and women of the Nigeria Police Force who distinguished themselves in the service.
