The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has assured students, stakeholders and the general public that its operations will continue without disruption as it temporarily switches to a skeletal remote work arrangement following a fumigation and sanitation exercise at its office.

The Fund said the exercise, which commenced on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, will run until the end of the year as part of efforts to maintain a safe, healthy and compliant working environment for staff and visitors.

NELFUND explained that only minimal staff required for essential on-site duties have been approved to report physically during the period, stressing that the decision was taken primarily to safeguard the health and wellbeing of its workforce.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Fund, Mr Akintunde Sawyerr, said staff safety informed the temporary adjustment, particularly for pregnant women and women of child-bearing age who may be more vulnerable to exposure during fumigation.

“Staff safety remains paramount,” Sawyerr said. “While the fumigation exercise is necessary, NELFUND has taken deliberate steps to ensure that no employee is unnecessarily exposed to any potential health risk.”

He added that the Fund’s strong digital infrastructure and established remote work systems would guarantee seamless continuity of its services.

According to NELFUND, core operations such as loan processing, stakeholder engagement, internal coordination and service delivery will continue remotely without interruption.

The Fund noted that its systems were designed to ensure efficiency, accountability and transparency, regardless of physical office presence, describing the move as a demonstration of institutional foresight and responsible governance.

NELFUND further reassured students and the public of its commitment to delivering transparent, efficient and student-focused education financing services nationwide.

It thanked stakeholders for their understanding and cooperation during the period and encouraged members of the public to reach the agency through its official communication channels for inquiries and support.
