Abuja–Kaduna train service resumes

Train operations on the Abuja–Kaduna Train Service (AKTS) officially resumed commercial Wednesday, 1st October 2025.

The resumption follows weeks of intensive inspections, staff training, and safety checks carried out by the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) to ensure reliable and secure service for passengers.

The first train departed as scheduled from Idu Station in Abuja, made a stop at Kubwa to pick up passengers, and then proceeded to Rigasa Station in Kaduna, its final destination. A return trip from Kaduna is also scheduled later in the day. This marks a significant step in restoring passenger confidence and strengthening rail transportation between the two cities.

The Managing Director of NRC, Dr. Kayode Opeifa,  the staff and stakeholders for their dedication in preparing the corridor for a smooth restart. He further assured passengers of the Corporation’s commitment to safety, efficiency, and improved service delivery.
