Osun, Borno, Lagos Top As INEC Records 6.8m Pre-Registrants In Voter Registration Drive

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that a total of 6,856,979 Nigerians have pre-registered online in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise as of Week Seven, covering September 29 to October 5, 2025.

According to the commission’s latest weekly update, women led the participation, with 3,581,562 registrants representing 52.23 percent, while men accounted for 3,275,417 or 47.77 percent.

INEC also revealed that youths aged 18–34 years dominated the process, with 4,689,637 registrations, while students contributed 1,728,384 to the total figure. Persons with disabilities (PWDs) made up 154,479 of the pre-registrants.

In addition to pre-registration, INEC disclosed that 1,216,048 Nigerians completed their voter registration between September 29 and October 3, 2025. Out of this, 658,766 completed online, while 557,282 completed physically at designated centres across the country.

Women again led in the completed registrations with 675,222 (55.53 percent) compared to men with 540,826 (44.47 percent). Youths between 18 and 34 years accounted for the bulk of the completed registrations with 897,676, while students made up 424,126. PWDs who completed the process stood at 17,450.

On state performance, Osun topped the chart with 122,399 completed registrations, followed by Lagos (68,448), Borno (67,224), Sokoto (59,437) and Kogi (50,135).

However, in terms of pre-registration figures, Borno led with 745,160 registrants, while Osun followed with 615,639. Lagos came third with 574,325, while Kebbi (525,108) and Kaduna (429,886) completed the top five.

INEC reiterated that the CVR exercise remains open to eligible Nigerians who are yet to register, those who have changed residence, or voters seeking to update or correct their details ahead of the next general elections.

The commission encouraged citizens, particularly first-time voters, to take advantage of the opportunity.
