Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, on Monday, visited 10 primary and secondary schools in Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area, as part of efforts to end the Monday sit-at-home in the state.

During the visit, the governor directed school administrators to take full attendance of teachers and students who resumed for classes, assuring them that adequate security measures had been put in place.

Soludo commended teachers and students who turned out for academic activities, stressing that the South-East must align with the rest of the world, where productivity runs through a full five-day work week.

He said the visit was aimed at reinforcing confidence in the safety of schools and encouraging residents to return fully to normal activities on Mondays.

He said, “This visit completes the circle, showing that all sectors are back. Monday is now a regular school day and arguably the most important day of the week for setting the tone of productivity.

“We urged the students to embrace the values of hard work and integrity; they must be developed in all ramifications to compete globally.

“There is a strategic partnership regarding the ‘returned schools’, under this framework, the state government heavily subsidises the schools and supports the teaching staff, while the Church is responsible for physical investment, ensuring the environment remains conducive for learning.

“The school administrators must take full attendance of those who come to school; the South East cannot be different from the rest of the world, where people are productive for five days a week rather than four.

“This visit serves as a broader signal to investors and citizens alike that the state is reclaiming its economic and social life. Anambra is back for business, and the state is rising rapidly.”

The schools visited included Community School, Unique Nursery and Primary School, Unique Secondary School, Central Primary School, Holy Child Secondary School, Community Secondary School, Amaorji Primary School, Ikemee Primary School, and Model Primary School, all located in Isuofia.
