The Delta State Police Command has warned criminal elements, including cultists and other mischief-makers, to desist from unlawful activities as Muslim faithful celebrate Eid al-Fitr, stressing that it is fully prepared to deal decisively with any threat to public peace.

Consequently, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Aina Adesola, has ordered the strategic deployment of personnel across Delta State to ensure a peaceful and secure celebration.

The command stated that the CP had directed Divisional Police Officers, Area Commanders and Tactical Commanders to intensify intelligence-led raids on criminal hideouts and black spots.

It added that the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations had been mandated to ensure effective coordination and supervision of all deployments to sustain peace and security before, during and after the celebrations.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, and made available to journalists in Warri on Thursday.

The command assured Muslim faithful and residents of “adequate security, including measures to safeguard lives and property during the Eid al-Fitr celebrations scheduled for Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026.”

It also assured residents of “a free flow of traffic, noting that a robust operational deployment comprising conventional police personnel, tactical units and other operational assets had been put in place at Eid prayer grounds and other strategic locations across the state.”

While wishing Muslim faithful “a peaceful and hitch-free celebration, the Commissioner of Police, on behalf of the management team, officers and men of the command, urged members of the public to remain law-abiding and vigilant.”

He also encouraged residents to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
