A member of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rasheed Kashamu, has thrown his weight behind the reform agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing the policies as tough but necessary steps towards repositioning Nigeria’s economy.
Kashamu, who represents Ijebu North State Constituency I, spoke at the weekend in Abuja on the sidelines of the All Progressives Congress national convention, where he urged Nigerians to remain patient amid the current economic challenges.
According to the lawmaker, the reforms being implemented by the Tinubu administration are laying a solid foundation for long-term national growth and global competitiveness.
“These reforms are not easy, but they are necessary. What we are witnessing is a foundation being laid for a stronger and more resilient Nigeria,” he said.
Kashamu commended the President for what he described as bold and courageous leadership, noting that successive administrations had avoided taking such far-reaching decisions.
He stressed that the success of the policies would depend largely on citizens’ support and willingness to endure short-term hardship for long-term gains.
The lawmaker added, “If we stay the course and give the President the needed support, Nigeria will not just improve — it will become one of the best among nations.”
Kashamu further called for collective responsibility among political leaders, stakeholders and citizens, stressing that nation-building requires sacrifice, unity and a shared vision.
He maintained that the current administration had demonstrated a commitment to accountability and progress, urging all Nigerians to rally behind the government’s efforts to achieve sustainable development.
