The Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) will return for its 12th edition with the main ceremony scheduled for May 9, 2026.
Organisers officially flagged off activities for this year’s awards at a press conference held on Thursday in Lagos, highlighting the event’s continued role in promoting Africa’s film and television industry.
Since its launch in 2013, the AMVCA has contributed to job creation and industry growth, generating over 30,000 opportunities across production and creative sectors.
Speaking at the event, MultiChoice West Africa’s Executive Head of Content and Channels, Atinuke Babatunde, said the awards remain committed to recognising not just on-screen talent but the broader creative ecosystem behind African storytelling.
This year’s edition introduces new categories for Best Indigenous Language – North Africa and Central Africa, expanding its continental reach. A total of 32 awards will be presented, including jury, public voting, and special recognition categories.
Veteran actress Joke Silva has been appointed Head Judge for the 2026 edition.
Nominees will be announced on March 29, with the broadcast airing across Africa Magic channels.
