As part of a broader advocacy campaign aimed at improving public safety and response culture, fast rising artiste, Ifeanyi U. Uduma aka I. UK recently dropped a new awareness song to promote Nigeria’s emergency No. 112.
Titled ‘112CultureNigeria’, the work seeks to sensitize citizens on the existence, importance and life-saving benefits of the toll-free emergency line.
The song serves as both an artistic expression and a public service message, blending engaging rhythms with practical information on how and when to use the number.
According to the artiste, the goal is to embed the emergency number into everyday consciousness, ensuring that Nigerians can easily recall it in times of distress.
Situations such as insecurity, fire outbreaks, road accidents and medical emergencies are among the scenarios highlighted in the campaign, with a strong emphasis on swift access to emergency responders including the police, fire service, ambulance teams, and road safety officials.
Speaking on the inspiration behind the project, I. UK noted that music remains one of the most effective tools for memory retention. He explained that people often remember song lyrics for years, making music a strategic medium for delivering critical information that can save lives.
The 112 emergency number is Nigeria’s equivalent of the widely recognized 911 system in the United States, which has proven effective over decades in coordinating rapid emergency responses.
In recent years, the Federal Government has made efforts to strengthen the system by expanding Emergency Communication Centres across the country, and enhancing the capacity of response agencies.
Experts believe that widespread adoption and proper use of the number could significantly improve safety outcomes nationwide.
Beyond his music career, I. UK has built a reputation for advocacy-driven projects. A former president of the Mass Communication Students’ Association at Lagos State University of Science and Technology, he continues to leverage his platform to address social issues.
In addition to his latest release, the artiste has dropped multiple singles across major streaming platforms, and is currently working on his debut album, expected to hit the scene later this year.
As co-founder of 112CultureNigeria, I. UK revealed that the National Orientation Agency is planning a nationwide awareness campaign on the emergency number. He expressed openness to collaboration, offering the song as a resource to support the initiative.
