The Ogun State All Progressives Congress stakeholders in Remo Federal Constituency have endorsed the immediate past Commissioner for Special Duties, Funmi Efuwape, as the consensus candidate for the 2027 House of Representatives seat in the constituency.
Efuwape, also a former Sagamu Local Government chairman and Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, was endorsed at the Remo Federal Constituency Caucus meeting held in Ikenne on Monday.
Speaking at the event, the Ogun East senatorial chairman of the party, Prince Adedoyin Adeleke, stated that the endorsement is a testament to the party’s resolve to ensure equity, fairness, and rancour-free electioneering in 2027.
Adeleke stated, “The three local government areas that make up the federal constituency, that is, Ikenne, Remo North, and Sagamu, are all here to unanimously endorse our candidate. So, it’s not a one-man show; it is a collective endorsement by all party faithful.
“And we are doing this to preserve the unity of the party, ensure fairness, and see ourselves as one, even as we allow the party interest to be far and above parochial interest as we confront the task of retaining APC lead in the state come 2027”.
The Commissioner of Environmental, Ola Oresanya, in his remarks, noted that the candidate’s track record of tenacity, party loyalty, and goal-getting ability played a major role in the party members’ decision.
“Efuwape has worked for the party; she has worked for other candidates, even when she was denied a ticket. She always puts her strength to work to ensure the party’s victory. This is our payback time for her,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Senior Special Assistant to the governor on public information, Dare Odufowokan, stated that the constituency has shown that democracy can be devoid of rancor and infighting among party members.
“We have shown here today that democracy can be seamless, that we can agree on a standpoint to achieve a purpose. Some of the aspirants are here and have all agreed with the party leaders’ decisions.
“So, we are moving into the 2027 general elections as a united front to win a landslide victory in all the available positions in Ogun state and Nigeria,” he stressed.
