Popular Nollywood actress and the current Secretary of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Lagos State Chapter, Imade Osawuru, is set to roll out the drums in celebration of a life well-lived, as she prepares to give her late father a grand and befitting burial.
The deceased, Chief Dr Solomon Osawaru Amayo, a highly revered high chief in Edo State, passed away at the remarkable age of 106.
Chief Amayo held the prestigious traditional title of the Obazogbon of the Benin Kingdom and was widely known and fondly addressed by his peers and subjects as “Adigbe.”
According to an official invitation issued by the Amayo family of Ugha-Okhuaihe in Uhunmwonde Local Government Area of Edo State, the funeral arrangements have been finalised to celebrate the patriarch, described by many as a “colossus.”
The funeral ceremony, which is expected to attract a constellation of stars from the Nigerian movie industry, captains of industry, and high-ranking traditional chiefs from the Benin Kingdom, will culminate in a grand social reception on Saturday, 30th May in Edo State.
Speaking on the upcoming event, colleagues from the Actors Guild of Nigeria have begun mobilising support for their Lagos Chapter Secretary, promising a heavy Nollywood presence in Benin City to honour the actress’s late father.
“An era has indeed come to an end with the passing of Chief Dr Solomon Osawaru Amayo. Living to the ripe old age of 106 is a rare blessing, and he used those years to impact his community and uphold the rich cultural heritage of the Benin Kingdom. We stand firmly with our sister and Secretary, Imade Osawuru, as she celebrates her father’s iconic legacy,” a close associate of the actress stated.
Chief Amayo is survived by a large and prosperous family, including children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who are all ready to give their patriarch a final transition befitting royalty.
