An Igbo businessman from Anambra State, Edwin Chukwujeku, on Friday emerged as the Assistant Secretary of Bolari East Ward of the All Progressives Congress in Gombe State.

Chukwujeku, who is not an indigene of the state, expressed delight over his emergence during the ongoing APC ward congresses, describing his election as a reflection of the party’s national outlook and inclusiveness.

“I feel happy being among the party leaders at the grassroots. My election reflects the nationality of the party. I advise other Igbos to actively participate in the party. We are not excluded; we are fully accommodated,” he said.

He commended Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, for appointing an Igbo man as Special Assistant on Inter-Community Affairs, noting that the gesture demonstrates the administration’s and the party’s commitment to inclusivity.

Chukwujeku further appealed for greater consideration of Igbo and other non-indigene residents who are actively involved in politics in the state when making political appointments.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the APC Ward and Local Government Congress Committee, Dr Danjuma Dabo, approved the consensus affirmation of ward executives across Gombe.

Speaking in Gombe Local Government Area, Dabo praised the peaceful and orderly conduct of the congresses.

“We have come and witnessed the process, and I can confirm that as a committee, we are satisfied with the exercise. It has been conducted in line with the appropriate regulations,” he said.

He added that the ward congresses in Gombe LGA were carried out in accordance with laid-down procedures, affirming that the committee was satisfied with both the process and the consensus arrangements adopted.
