Afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has been appointed as the Head of Youth Mobilisation for the re-election campaign of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, ahead of the 2026 governorship race.
Davido made the announcement on X on Tuesday, expressing excitement over his new political role in his uncle’s campaign structure.

He wrote, “I have been appointed by the Governor of OSUN STATE @AAdeleke_01 and flag bearer of the ACCORD PARTY as HEAD YOUTH MOBILIZATION OF CAMPAIGN COUNCIL!
“We look forward to a smooth campaign and you RE-ELECTION Your Excellency! 4+4.”
The development comes as political activities intensify ahead of the August 2026 Osun governorship election, in which Adeleke is seeking a second term.

Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke, is the nephew of Adeleke, a relationship that has often translated into public political support over the years.
His latest appointment adds to his growing involvement in Osun State politics. In 2025, the singer was also named Chairman of the Osun Sports Trust Fund, a role designed to attract investment into sports development in the state.
The singer has consistently used his platform to support his uncle’s political activities, with both figures maintaining visible public alignment during elections and governance programmes.
The Osun State governorship election is scheduled for August 8, 2026, where political parties are already mobilising ahead of campaigns.
Davido’s appointment is expected to further energise youth engagement in the campaign, especially among his massive young fanbase across Nigeria and the diaspora.
