
The All Progressives Congress has concluded its primary elections for the Delta State House of Assembly, producing candidates across all 29 state constituencies ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The exercise, held across the state on Wednesday, was described by party officials as peaceful, credible and transparent.
Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Emomotimi Guwor, emerged as the APC candidate for Warri South-West Constituency, while Deputy Speaker, Arthur Akpowowo, clinched the ticket for Ethiope East Constituency.
In Isoko North Constituency, Orobosa Ashakah secured the party’s ticket, while Lucky Idhoveh emerged as the candidate for Isoko South Constituency I. Incumbent lawmaker Ferguson Onwo secured the ticket for Isoko South Constituency II.
Orode Uduaghan won the APC ticket for Warri North Constituency, while Augustine Uroye and Benson Obire emerged as candidates for Warri South Constituencies I and II, respectively.
Other winners include ThankGod Trakiriowei (Patani), Funyei Manager (Bomadi), Alapala Anthony Ebitonmo (Burutu I) and Perez Oloye (Burutu II).
Oghenedoro Owoso clinched the ticket for Ethiope West Constituency.
In Ughelli North Constituencies I and II, Matthew Omonade and Chief Joseph Okoro emerged as candidates respectively, while Festus Utuama was returned unopposed for Ughelli South Constituency.
James Augoye secured renomination for Okpe Constituency, Benjamin Sharta emerged for Udu Constituency, and Edafe Emakpor clinched the ticket for Uvwie Constituency. Perkins Umukoro also secured the party’s ticket for Sapele Constituency.
In the Delta North zone, Hon. Bridget Anyafulu emerged as the candidate for Oshimili South, while Innocent Eseweze, Chairman of Oshimili North Local Government Council, won the Oshimili North ticket.
Isaac Anwuzia and Fidel Onwordi emerged as candidates for Aniocha South and Aniocha North, respectively. In Ukwuani Constituency, Chukwudi Dafe secured renomination, while Prince Emeka Osamuta and Chief Princewill Olie won Ndokwa East and Ndokwa West constituencies.
Cordilia Anyangwu emerged as the candidate for Ika South, while Marilyn Okowa-Daramola secured renomination for Ika North-East Constituency.
Party supporters across the state celebrated the emergence of candidates as the APC concluded its primaries and shifted focus to preparations for the 2027 elections in Delta State.
Meanwhile, the APC House of Assembly Primaries Committee set up by the party’s National Working Committee has commended the conduct of the exercise and the leadership of the party in the state.
Speaking with journalists in Asaba, the committee chairman, Vita Abda, said the team was in Delta State on the directive of the national leadership to supervise the primaries in line with party guidelines.
“We are here as members of the committee for the House of Assembly primaries of our great party, APC,” he said.
“We have come, and we have seen Delta, and I want to put it on record that my team and I are happy with the leadership in Delta State,” he added.
The committee also praised Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for what it described as his commitment to infrastructure development and people-oriented governance.
“We want to commend the leader, who is the governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and his team. They are making our party proud through the provision of infrastructure and people-oriented programmes and projects,” the chairman said.
The panel further commended Delta APC chairman, Solomon Arenyeka, describing him as a “mature hand” capable of strengthening the party ahead of future elections.
It expressed confidence that the APC would emerge stronger in Delta State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
