Contestants on MasterChef Nigeria faced a demanding baking challenge this week as the kitchen transformed into a bakery for the White Apron Challenge, with the coveted Immunity Pin up for grabs.
The challenge featured renowned pastry specialist, Chef Tosan Jemide, who travelled from Australia to mentor the contestants. The home cooks were tasked with recreating his cake recipe and decorating both their cakes and cookies in a surprise twist introduced by the judges.
The challenge proved difficult for many contestants. Favy suffered a major setback when her cakes collapsed in the oven, triggering a panic attack.
However, she recovered and salvaged her bake creatively. Isabella struggled after an error in measurements left her cake mixture unusable, while David became overwhelmed during the decorating stage. Despite admitting that baking was outside his comfort zone, Loye completed the challenge.
After evaluating the entries, the judges named Favy’s creation the Dish of the Day, praising her resilience and ability to perform under pressure despite an early disaster.
Her victory earned her the coveted Immunity Pin, giving her a significant advantage in the competition as the stakes continue to rise.
Produced by Primedia Group, MasterChef Nigeria airs Sundays at 7 p.m. on Africa Magic Showcase and Africa Magic Family.
