The Nigerian-American Multicultural Council (NAMC), one of the leading Nigerian cultural organizations in the United States, has officially endorsed the Afro World Cup Tour (AWCT) 2026, the major African entertainment and cultural experience planned around the FIFA World Cup 2026 in the United States.
The organization pledged its support for the Carter Efe-led tour and promised to work closely with organizers to promote the initiative within Nigerian and African diaspora communities across Houston and other participating cities.
The endorsement was confirmed by Dr. Hakeem Tijani, Vice President of Community Partnerships at NAMC, during a visit to the Houston office of JMDL Consulting, organizers of the Afro World Cup Tour. During the meeting, he met with the Project Lead of AWCT, Lucky Felix Eyo, to discuss collaboration and community participation ahead of the tournament.
Speaking during the visit, Dr. Tijani described the project as a strong platform for promoting Nigerian culture, African entertainment, and diaspora engagement during one of the world’s biggest sporting events.
He noted that the Afro World Cup Tour aligns with NAMC’s mission of showcasing Nigerian excellence, culture, and community values in the United States.
According to him, the initiative will help spotlight African talents, businesses, restaurants, entertainment, and cultural experiences during the FIFA World Cup season while strengthening the presence of Africans within the global tournament atmosphere.
NAMC, a Houston-based nonprofit organization, is widely known for promoting Nigerian and African culture through mentorship, education, youth programs, civic engagement, and cultural events within the United States.
The Afro World Cup Tour is expected to feature comedy shows, nightlife events, watch parties, cultural showcases, restaurant collaborations, livestream productions, city tours, youth engagements, and community-centered activities across Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and New York.
Organizers say the project will also create visibility for African-owned businesses, food brands, lifestyle companies, entertainers, and creators through digital streaming and large-scale social media engagement expected to reach millions of viewers across Africa and the United States.
Reacting to the endorsement, Lucky Felix Eyo described NAMC’s support as an important milestone for the project.
“NAMC is one of the most respected Nigerian cultural organizations in Houston and within the diaspora community,” he said. “Their support adds credibility and community strength to what we are building with AWCT.”
He added that the Afro World Cup Tour is not just about entertainment but also about creating opportunities for African culture, businesses, and communities to connect with global audiences during FIFA 2026.
Organizers also revealed that discussions are ongoing regarding collaboration in areas such as cultural participation, diaspora mobilization, and visibility for Nigerian and African heritage during the World Cup.
With preparations already intensifying for FIFA World Cup 2026, many observers believe the Afro World Cup Tour is gradually positioning itself as one of the biggest African-led entertainment and cultural experiences expected around the tournament in the United States.
