The Eselu of Iselu Kingdom in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State, Oba Akintunde Akinyemi, has congratulated Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, on his adoption as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the 2027 election.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the monarch described Adeola’s emergence as a reflection of his “sterling leadership qualities and unwavering commitment” to the development of Ogun State.
Akinyemi said the decision by party stakeholders to adopt the senator as a consensus candidate demonstrated the confidence reposed in him across the state, particularly in Ogun West.
He noted that Adeola’s track record in the National Assembly had distinguished him as a unifying figure capable of driving inclusive growth and development.
“As you embark on this journey, Ogun State stands to benefit immensely from your experience, integrity and passion for development,” the monarch said, while praying for wisdom and strength for the APC flag bearer ahead of the 2027 polls.
The traditional ruler also commended President Bola Tinubu for his consistent support for Adeola’s political career, as well as Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun for backing the consensus arrangement.
He further lauded other aspirants, including former governorship hopefuls, for what he described as their “spirit of sportsmanship” in rallying behind Adeola’s candidacy in the interest of party unity.
Akinyemi equally congratulated the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewa Land, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, on the emergence of one of his subjects as the party’s standard bearer.
The monarch expressed optimism that Ogun West would produce the next governor of the state, adding that Adeola’s candidacy represented a significant moment for the Yewa axis.
He, however, urged party members and residents of the state to support the APC candidate to ensure victory in the 2027 governorship election.
