The Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has mocked the All Progressives Congress (APC) over an alleged claim that its deputy governorship candidate possesses “30 decades of experience,” a description the opposition party described as misleading and exaggerated.
A PDP chieftain, Waliu Oladipupo, in a statement credited to Oyekoya Akintunde, ridiculed the claim following the unveiling of the APC running mate, Mrs Kudirat Abiodun Balogun (née Adegunwa), ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Ogun State Ogun State.
The PDP, in the post which circulated briefly on social media before being deleted, lampooned the description of “30 decades of experience,” arguing that it mathematically translates to 300 years, a claim it described as unrealistic and politically embarrassing.
“Let’s do the maths for them: one decade is 10 years. Thirty decades is 300 years,” the statement read, while further mocking the APC over what it termed exaggerated claims in political communication.
The opposition party also used the moment to take a swipe at the ruling APC, saying Ogun State needs “modern, problem-solving leadership” rather than what it described as outdated ideas.
“Ogun State in 2027 needs leaders with Holocene ideas, not fossil ideas,” the statement added, in a swipe at the ruling party.
However, PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the controversial statement was later deleted by its original publisher shortly after it began circulating online.
Findings also suggested that the figure “30 decades” may have been a typographical error or misstatement, as the candidate was likely referring to 30 years of experience, not 300 years as implied in the viral post.
The APC had earlier unveiled its governorship ticket with Mrs Balogun as running mate, a development that has since triggered political exchanges between both major parties in the state ahead of the 2027 polls.
Efforts by PLATFORM TIMES to verify the original statement further indicated that the online post had been taken down, deepening uncertainty over the authenticity of the controversial “30 decades” claim.
