The Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Dennis Otuaro, has said that the visit of the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to the Warri Kingdom in Delta State complements the development agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
Otuaro made the remarks on Thursday while congratulating the First Lady on her one-day visit to the oil-rich kingdom, describing the trip as a significant and welcome development for the government and people of Delta State.
This was contained in a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media to the Administrator, Igoniko Oduma.
Otuaro expressed confidence, on behalf of stakeholders and beneficiaries of the PAP, that her presence in Warri would further strengthen ongoing efforts to promote sustainable peace, security, and development in the Niger Delta.
According to him, the First Lady embodies national peace and unity, which he described as cardinal pillars of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Otuaro praised her humanitarian efforts through the Renewed Hope Initiative, noting that the project has continued to provide support to vulnerable Nigerians across the country.
“The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator (Chief) Oluremi Tinubu, is a kind and empathetic leader, and it takes a generous heart to be able to do the good things Her Excellency is doing to uplift humanity through her Renewed Hope Initiative.
“Her Excellency’s project is a worthy legacy that will leave lasting impacts across the country,” Otuaro said.
The PAP Administrator further stated that the First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative aligns with and complements Oborevwori’s Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security agenda aimed at the strategic development of Delta State.
He added that her visit would remain memorable for many residents of the state, describing her as a notable daughter of the soil whose milestones would continue to inspire Deltans.
According to the PAP, Otuaro has deployed over 9,000 students to universities within and outside Nigeria for various industry-relevant courses since assuming office in March 2024.
PUNCH Online reports that the Presidential Amnesty Programme was established in 2009 to address militancy in the Niger Delta by disarming and rehabilitating former agitators.
Over the years, it has evolved to focus on skills training, education, and empowerment projects aimed at fostering peace and development in the oil-rich region.
