The National Association of Polytechnic Students has launched the Paytogeda CampusPay platform, a digital payment solution designed to enhance financial transparency, accountability, and efficiency in student union administration across polytechnic campuses in the country.
The initiative was formally unveiled during an event attended by student leaders, stakeholders, and technology partners in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Thursday.
Speaking at the launch, the Senate President of the National Association of Polytechnic Students, Ayomide Oyewumi, described the platform as a transformative step toward modernising student governance.
He noted that the introduction of the digital platform indicates the dawn of a new era where financial transactions within student unions would be traceable, verifiable, and free from mismanagement.
“The digital solution addresses long-standing concerns about financial opacity and distrust in campus leadership. Today marks more than the unveiling of a digital platform; it marks the beginning of a new era in student union administration.
“Transparency is no longer optional, and accountability is no longer negotiable,” he said, while urging student union leaders nationwide to adopt the system.”
Oyewumi emphasised that the digital payment platform would ensure that union dues, levies, and other financial contributions are processed through secure and accountable channels.
He added that the platform would enable student leaders to generate verifiable financial reports at the click of a button, thereby strengthening the legitimacy and credibility of campus administrations.
Beyond union payments, the NAPS Senate President highlighted the wider potential of the innovation, while encouraging students to embrace it as an all-encompassing financial tool for registrations, departmental fees, event ticketing, and daily campus transactions.
He stressed that embracing digital solutions was essential to building smart campuses capable of sustaining institutional reforms beyond individual tenures.
In his remarks, the Chief Executive Officer of the payment platform, Aderogba Odepode, described the initiative as a student-centred innovation designed to simplify financial coordination and eliminate disputes.
He explained that the platform ensures that every contribution is visible, every transaction is tracked, and every payout is subject to agreed-upon approvals, thereby promoting trust and operational efficiency within student bodies.
The Paytogeda CEO commended NAPS for its collaboration, noting that the partnership represents more than the launch of an application.
“We are launching a movement that empowers students to take collective and responsible control of their finances. This platform is designed to strengthen governance, build credibility, and deliver real value to the students it serves,” he stated.
They noted that the adoption of digital systems aligns with global best practices in institutional governance.
