President Bola Tinubu has commended Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, over ongoing infrastructure projects in the state, including power, roads and bridges, describing them as transformative.

Tinubu spoke on Friday during the inauguration of four projects executed by the Bayelsa State Government.

The projects include the 60MW Bayelsa Gas Turbine, the dualised New Yenagoa City Road 1, the 630-metre Angiama-Oporoma Bridge, and the Sagbama–Ekeremor Road project.

The President said the projects demonstrated purposeful leadership and effective collaboration between the federal and state governments.

He said, “You have done a great job. I have commissioned some projects, very transformative projects, creating opportunities and jobs and a hope for our nation. Thank you for that commitment and for being a very progressive governor.

“Diri has demonstrated the power of very purposeful leadership, and I am here standing before you promising that the challenges that we face, the memory of those who led this country face the battles and challenges of security.”

Tinubu also pledged continued efforts to address insecurity and improve national development.

He said the Federal Government would continue to train security personnel and intensify the fight against terrorism and banditry.

The President said the projects aligned with the All Progressives Congress’ belief that governance must translate into infrastructure and economic opportunities for citizens.

He added that the Independent Power Plant project would support industrialisation and economic growth in the state.

“There can be no industrialisation, skill development and empowerment without power; that is a vision. I assure Nigerians that we will have electricity to power our growth,” he stated.

Tinubu assured the state of Federal Government’s support for continued development partnerships.

Earlier, Diri said the projects had addressed long-standing infrastructure gaps in the state, particularly in riverine communities.

Diri said the 630-metre Angiama-Oporoma Bridge would significantly improve connectivity and reduce travel time for several communities in Southern Ijaw and Brass local government areas.

He said more than 60 communities would benefit from the road projects, which he described as critical to economic development in the state.

The governor also commended the Federal Government for supporting key projects, including waivers for the importation of equipment for the state’s Independent Power Plant and the award of the second phase of the Nembe–Brass road.

He said the collaboration between both levels of government had helped drive development in the state.
