Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has approved a major reshuffle in his cabinet, reassigning key portfolios in a bid to improve governance and service delivery.
The development was contained in a statement released on Monday and signed by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Segun Ogunwuyi.
According to the statement, the Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr Seun Ashamu, will now oversee the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources.
In a corresponding move, Mr Abdulmojeed Mogbonjubola, who was in charge of the Environment and Natural Resources portfolio, has been redeployed to the Ministry of Public Works, Infrastructure and Transport.
Also affected is Prof Dahud Shangodoyin, the former Commissioner for Public Works, who now takes charge of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
In the education sector, Prof Solihu Adelabu, who previously held the Education, Science and Technology portfolio, has been reassigned to the Ministry of Establishments and Training.
Meanwhile, Mr Segun Olayiwola, the former Commissioner for Establishments, now heads the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.
Ogunwuyi stated that the changes take immediate effect. He added that the Governor charged all the affected commissioners to remain committed and loyal to the vision of the administration and to continue delivering their mandates efficiently.
