The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is bound to face “inevitable rejection” by Nigerians in the 2027 general elections.

The forum, in a communiqué issued on Saturday after its meeting in Gusau, Zamfara State, accused the APC-led Federal Government of worsening poverty, insecurity, and democratic decline through what it described as “divisive governance and anti-people policies.”

The governors insisted that despite a series of defections within the PDP, the party remains the strongest political platform to rescue Nigeria from “the misery imposed by the ruling party.”

The communiqué partly read:
“The forum commends the resilience of PDP leaders and members in overcoming orchestrated defections, stressing that such distractions cannot diminish the party’s strong grassroots appeal or the growing public yearning for affordable living and relative security as witnessed under PDP-led administrations.”

They further alleged that the last by-elections were militarised and marred by irregularities, vote-buying, and violence, warning that such anti-democratic tendencies would not stop Nigerians from voting out the ruling party in 2027.

The governors also reaffirmed their support for the party’s forthcoming national convention scheduled for November, urging members to resist alleged attempts by “anti-party forces” to derail the process.

On insecurity, the forum condemned what it called the “continued monstrous killings” in Katsina, Plateau, Niger, Benue, and other parts of the country, urging the Federal Government to take decisive action to protect lives and property.

The statement added:
“This sad situation should only be seen as the sign of the desperation of a political party with no agenda, no vision, and doomed to face inevitable rejection by the masses.”

Those present at the meeting included Governors Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), Agbu Kefas (Taraba), Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Douye Diri (Bayelsa), and Ademola Adeleke (Osun).
