A former leader of the African Democratic Congress in Ekiti State, Ayodele David-Adesua, has resigned his membership of the party and moved to the Peoples Democratic Party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
David-Adesua, who was a governorship aspirant of the ADC in 2018 and 2026, is seeking the PDP senatorial ticket for Ekiti North Senatorial District.
In a resignation letter dated April 21, 2026, and addressed to the Chairman of ADC, Ijesa Isu Ward 7, Ikole Local Government Area, the politician said his decision was final and in line with his political objectives.
“I hereby resign my membership of the ADC with immediate effect, 21st April 2026. My membership registration number is EK-IKO-IJ-11183,” he said.
He added that he had actively contributed to the growth of the party at various levels during his time in the ADC.
“During my time with the ADC, I actively contributed at the ward, local government, state and national levels, both before and after the coalition.
“Specifically, I secured office spaces in all 12 wards within Ikole Local Government Area and provided financial support to sustain the party’s operations at multiple levels,” he stated.
Sources close to the politician said David-Adesua had joined the PDP to actualise his ambition of representing Ekiti North in the Senate.
Confirming his defection, David-Adesua told newsmen on Tuesday that the move was driven by his desire to better serve his constituents.
“I took the decision in order to fulfil my purpose of getting the dividends of democracy across to my people in Ekiti North Senatorial District. I need an effective political platform to make it happen,” he stated.
The development comes amid political realignments in Ekiti State ahead of the June 20, 2026, governorship election and the 2027 general elections.
