Members of the Mace Club of Nigeria have elected Mace (Chief) Aliu Ajani Odunmbaku, PhD, as the 12th President of the club following a keenly contested election held in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the election, which attracted members from within and outside the state capital, was conducted by a three-member Mace Electoral Commission chaired by Mace Soji Sogbolu, with Maces Babatunde Oduwaiye and Temitope Lasilo serving as members.

Other officers elected alongside Odunmbaku include Mace Toyin Obatosin, Esq., as Vice President; Mace Engr. Jide Adebayo as General Secretary; and Mace Edward Lasilo as Director of Socials and Public Relations.

The election, described by members as peaceful and transparent, reaffirmed the club’s long-standing tradition of democratic leadership and adherence to its constitution.

Odunmbaku, a Chief Lecturer in the Department of Marketing at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, emerged victorious after what members described as a competitive but orderly electoral process.

Founded on April 1, 1984 in Abeokuta by fifteen young men with an average age of 23, the Mace Club of Nigeria was established to promote friendship, leadership development, mutual support and community service.

Over the years, the club has grown in influence and reputation, becoming one of the notable social organisations in the state.

In his acceptance speech, Odunmbaku expressed gratitude to members for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to prioritise unity, transparency and inclusiveness in the affairs of the club.

He also promised to operate an open-door policy and ensure strict adherence to the club’s constitution and established rules.

The new president further assured members that his administration would focus on strengthening the institutional structure of the club, enhancing member participation and promoting the organisation’s ideals.

According to him, his leadership will leverage experience in management and administration to consolidate the achievements of previous administrations while advancing the club’s reputation.

Members of the club commended the new leadership, expressing confidence that the executive council would sustain the club’s legacy and steer it towards greater development.

The newly elected executive council was sworn in during the club’s monthly meeting on March 15, 2026, marking the commencement of their two-year tenure.
