The lawmaker representing Ijebu North State Constituency I in the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Rasheed Kashamu, has distributed food items and cash gifts to thousands of residents in Ijebu Igbo as part of activities marking the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

The outreach, held at the Kashamu family compound in Egbe Subaru, Oke Sopen area of Ijebu Igbo, attracted a large crowd of beneficiaries drawn from across the constituency.

Many of the recipients, who spoke during the event, described the gesture as timely, noting that it would go a long way in cushioning the effect of the current economic hardship.

Addressing journalists shortly after the distribution, Kashamu said the initiative was driven by the core values of sacrifice, compassion and generosity associated with the Eid season.

He stressed that leadership should not be limited to lawmaking and representation, but must also reflect genuine concern for the wellbeing of the people.

Kashamu added that the outreach formed part of his efforts to sustain the philanthropic legacy of his late father, Senator Buruji Kashamu, whom he described as a symbol of grassroots empowerment and humanitarian service.

He said, “This is more than a seasonal gesture; it is a responsibility we owe our people. My father was passionate about uplifting others, and I am committed to continuing and expanding that legacy.”

Community leaders at the event commended the lawmaker for what they described as his consistency in reaching out to constituents, noting that his interventions have continued to impact lives positively.

The Eid outreach, observers say, is one of several initiatives by the lawmaker aimed at improving the welfare of residents in the constituency.
