The 2019 governorship candidate of the Abundant Nigeria Renewal Party in Oyo State, Olalekan Ayorinde, has joined the All Progressives Congress in the state.

Ayorinde was formally received on Wednesday at the APC secretariat in Oke-Ado, Ibadan, by the state chairman, Moses Alake, alongside party leaders from Ibadan North East Local Government Area and Ward 2 executives.

Other party officials present at the reception included the chairman of Ibadan North East Local Government, Azeez Asimolowo Elewure, Ward 2 chairman, Morufu Ogboriefon, as well as other party stakeholders.

Speaking during the reception, Ayorinde said, “My decision to join the APC is not driven by personal ambition or the desire to contest for any political office, but rather by my commitment to support the progress of the party and contribute meaningfully to the development of Ibadan in particular and the state as a whole.

“Service to the people and the advancement of the state have always remained my core motivation as a statesman and a true son of the soil.”

In his remarks, the APC Chairman of Ibadan North East Local Government, Elewure, applauded Ayorinde for joining the party, describing him as “a valuable asset whose experience, popularity, and grassroots connection would further strengthen the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.”

He said the former governorship candidate had earlier aligned with the party at ward and local government levels before formally completing the process at the state level.

Ayorinde contested the 2019 governorship election in Oyo State under the Abundant Nigeria Renewal Party.
