MTN Nigeria has announced that applications are now open for the fifth edition of its Media Innovation Programme (MIP) with an expanded cohort of 25 fellows, increasing from 20 in previous editions. The expansion to 25 is symbolic, marking MTN Nigeria’s 25th anniversary and reinforcing its continued commitment to supporting the development of Nigeria’s media landscape.
As MTN Nigeria marks 25 years of connecting people, the programme represents a parallel investment in the storytellers shaping how that connection is understood, experienced, and amplified across society. It underscores a deliberate effort to support a vibrant, independent, and forward-looking media industry that continues to evolve alongside the digital economy.
Launched in 2022, in partnership with the School of Media and Communication, Pan-Atlantic University (PAU), the fully funded six‑month certificate programme has grown into one of Africa’s most influential media capacity building platforms. Since inception, it has equipped media professionals with the knowledge, tools, and networks required to lead and innovate within a rapidly evolving media and technology landscape. The fifth edition introduces an expanded cohort, a broader curriculum scope, and a stronger pan-African outlook that broadens fellows’ perspectives and exposure to media and technology ecosystems across the continent.
“The Media Innovation Programme reflects our commitment to supporting the growth and evolution of the media industry by providing access to knowledge, exposure, and meaningful engagement with the realities shaping it.
“The expansion to 25 fellows this year is a deliberate reflection of our 25-year milestone, and a reminder that as the media industry continues to evolve, there is a continued need to invest in the people and ideas that will shape its future,” said Tobe Okigbo, Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer, MTN Nigeria.
