The Deejays Association of Nigeria has dismissed reports claiming it banned songs by Burna Boy following a reported altercation with DJ Tunez, describing the claims as false and misleading.

In a statement issued on Thursday, DJAN National President, Prince Akim Edeh, urged media platforms to desist from spreading unverified information, stressing that the association never sanctioned any restriction on Burna Boy’s music.

“We noted with grave concern reports surrounding a recent incident involving a Disc Jockey and Burna Boy. As a body dedicated to the growth and integrity of the entertainment industry, we maintain a firm and unwavering stance against any form of violence or physical confrontation. We are currently monitoring ongoing investigations.”

The group also condemned the unauthorised use of its official logo to lend credibility to the reports and distanced itself from the circulating claims.

“DJAN remains committed to fostering a healthy and collaborative environment between all practitioners and performing artists within the music space.

According to DJAN, it is closely monitoring investigations into the incident while maintaining its stance against violence and physical confrontations within the entertainment industry.

“We urge the public to remain calm and allow the relevant authorities to investigate the matter.

The association further clarified that DJ Tunez is not a registered member of DJAN.

“We didn’t and have no intention to place ban on Burna Boy’s music or any other artist.”

The controversy stems from an incident at Obi’s House in Lagos, where DJ Tunez was allegedly assaulted for playing songs by Wizkid instead of Burna Boy.

DJAN reiterated its commitment to promoting a healthy and collaborative environment among DJs and artists, while calling on the public to remain calm and allow authorities to handle the matter.
