TSO Targets One Million Votes For Tinubu, Yayi In Ogun, Rallies Support For Abiodun

The Tinubu Support Organisation has intensified mobilisation efforts in Ogun State ahead of the 2027 general elections, setting an ambitious target of one million votes for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid and the governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi.

The Ogun State Coordinator of TSO and Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government, Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo, disclosed this during a strategic meeting with coordinators from the 20 local government areas of the state, held in Akomoje, Abeokuta, on Saturday.

Oyegbola-Sodipo said the group, which currently boasts over 50,000 registered members across the state, had commenced early grassroots mobilisation to significantly improve on the approximately 400,000 votes recorded for the All Progressives Congress in the 2023 presidential election.

He attributed the low turnout in the previous election to voter apathy, noting that the figure represented about 11 per cent of registered voters in the state.

“We are targeting at least one million votes in 2027. This is achievable through aggressive mobilisation across the 236 wards, with a minimum of 2,000 votes expected from each ward,” he said.

He explained that the organisation had put in place a robust structure extending to the polling unit level, including the deployment of coordinators and ambassadors who would track voter data, analyse past election trends, and drive participation.

According to him, the movement, which began in 2021 to support Tinubu’s presidential ambition, is now focused on consolidating its gains and ensuring victory for the APC at both state and national levels.

“Our goal is to support the re-election of the President so he can continue his reforms, while also working towards the emergence of Senator Adeola as governor and facilitating a smooth transition for Governor Dapo Abiodun to the Senate,” he added.

The TSO coordinator emphasised that the group’s mobilisation strategy prioritises grassroots engagement over social media campaigns, insisting that elections are won at the polling unit level.

He also assured that efforts were underway to address concerns discouraging voter participation, particularly fears of violence during elections.

“Many Nigerians are willing to vote but are discouraged by insecurity. We must assure them of peaceful and credible elections to boost turnout,” he said.

Speaking at the event, the Special Adviser to Governor Abiodun on Youth Affairs, Olamide Lawal, urged young people to take a leading role in the mobilisation drive.

Lawal described youths as constituting about 65 per cent of the population, stressing that their active participation would be critical to the party’s success in 2027.

He, however, called on political leaders to reciprocate the support of young people by creating opportunities for their inclusion in governance.

“While youths are ready to work for the party’s victory, leadership must also recognise their contributions by involving them in decision-making processes,” he said.

Lawal commended Oyegbola-Sodipo for promoting youth inclusion within the TSO structure, noting that such efforts would strengthen the party’s grassroots appeal.

He expressed confidence that with sustained sensitisation and mobilisation, Ogun State would record higher voter turnout in the next election cycle.

“Ogun is firmly for the President, for Yayi, and for the APC. This time, we are not just aiming for participation but a massive turnout that will surpass previous results,” he said.

The meeting also served as a platform for the formal endorsement of Tinubu and Adeola by the group, with coordinators pledging to intensify house-to-house campaigns and community engagement across the state.
