2027: It’ll Be Disservice If North Fails To Back Tinubu, Says Yilwatda

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda, on Friday declared that it would amount to a disservice for the North not to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027.

Yilwatda said the region had benefitted significantly from the policies and projects of the Tinubu administration, insisting that northern Nigeria must reciprocate by backing the President’s re-election bid.

He spoke in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, during a solidarity rally organised in appreciation of President Tinubu and Governor Abdullahi Sule for what organisers described as impactful governance.

According to him, the President’s infrastructural drive and economic reforms have positioned the North for long-term growth, particularly in agriculture, transportation and regional trade.

“Mr President has shown that Nigeria can be united, inclusive and resolute. The North has benefitted immensely from his administration. It will be a disservice if we fail to support him in 2027,” Yilwatda said.

He listed the proposed Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway, which he said would feature over 60 dams to boost irrigation, agriculture, electricity generation and water supply, as well as the ongoing Abuja–Kano rail modernisation project with an extension to the Niger Republic, as landmark initiatives with far-reaching economic implications for the region.

Yilwatda noted that the rail line, when completed, would transform the North into a major import and export hub for neighbouring countries, including Sudan, Burkina Faso and Chad.

“All these projects are being driven by President Tinubu. Supporting him is not negotiable because of what he has done, what he is doing and what he will yet do,” he added.

The APC chairman made the remarks while receiving thousands of defectors from opposition parties into the ruling party, describing the development as a sign of growing confidence in the administration.

He also commended Governor Sule for infrastructural projects across the 13 local government areas of the state, including roads, flyovers, schools, hospitals and the state airport.

Also speaking, Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, who doubles as National Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Agenda, urged party faithful to take the message of the administration’s achievements to the grassroots.

Uzodinma maintained that the gathering was not a campaign rally but an opportunity to sensitise citizens to the gains of the Federal Government’s policies, including what he described as improving foreign reserves, exchange rate stability and declining food prices.

He further lauded the President’s efforts to tackle insecurity, saying Nigerians were beginning to see the impact of decisive leadership.
The rally drew party stakeholders, traditional leaders and supporters from across the state, underscoring early political alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
