By Moses Akaigwe
On April 24, the 18th Auto China 2026 officially opened in Beijing, with Chery unveiling the all-new Chery Tiggo V—a groundbreaking, transformable multi-purpose SUV and the first of its kind in the TIGGO lineup.
The Tiggo V, launched as a “3-in-1” vehicle, bridges conventional automotive categories by combining the functionalities of an SUV, MPV, and pickup. It is the production version of the T1TP concept and reflects Chery’s global brand philosophy, “For Family,” which is focused on addressing the evolving mobility needs of modern households.
Positioned as a game-changer in the global multi-purpose vehicle segment, the Tiggo V offers flexible and practical solutions tailored to family users.
According to Chery Brand CEO, Jeff Zhang, the company’s innovations are rooted in its commitment to family-oriented mobility. He described the “For Family” philosophy as more than a slogan, emphasizing it as a pledge to deliver safe, reliable, and emotionally intelligent travel experiences.
He explained that the “V” in Tiggo V represents three core values—Versatility, Value, and Victory—signifying a vehicle designed to adapt to diverse family scenarios, reduce household mobility burdens, and support a better quality of life.
The Tiggo V features three distinct modes. In SUV mode, it offers a ground clearance of 220mm, with a wading depth of 700mm for the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant and 650mm for the internal combustion engine (ICE) version. Equipped with intelligent technologies such as Automatic Parking Assist (APA) and Remote Parking Assist (RPA), it balances off-road capability with smart mobility.
In MPV mode, the vehicle’s 2,800mm wheelbase enables a true three-row, seven-seat configuration, complemented by 42 storage compartments and an N95-rated cabin designed for enhanced comfort and air quality.
When switched to pickup mode, a quick-detach barrier expands cargo capacity, while factory-designed kits allow for seamless adaptation to outdoor and logistics use without modification.
Powered by Chery’s sixth-generation Super Hybrid system, the Tiggo V delivers strong performance alongside improved fuel efficiency. Its high-clearance chassis further enhances adaptability across varying road conditions.
As the first all-round, family-oriented model introduced under Chery’s “2030 Ten-Million Family Letters Plan,” the Tiggo V underscores the brand’s commitment to innovation through real-life usage scenarios, strengthening its position in the global family mobility market.
Part of the international audience at the unveiling of the Tiggo V was a delegation from Carloha Nigeria, the authorised distributor of Chery vehicles in Nigeria. The team is attending the Chery International Business Summit in China.
The summit, held alongside the motor show—widely regarded as one of the largest automotive exhibitions globally—serves as a key platform for Chery and its international partners to align on strategy and explore future growth opportunities.
