To underscore the growing intersection between Nigerian film industry and consumer goods, three prominent Nollywood actors have been signed as brand ambassadors for a new herbal beverage.
Femi Adebayo, Zubby Michael and Destiny Etiko were unveiled last week in Lagos as faces of 4 Rounds Bitters, a product from MP Masterpiece Nigeria Ltd.
The event, which doubled as the official launch of the drink, attracted to the venue entertainment industry players, business executives and health sector professionals.
In his remarks, Managing Director of MP Masterpiece, Mr. Emeka Ike, said the company formulated the beverage using African herbs and other local ingredients.
He described the product as an affordable option in the bitters category, noting that the choice of Nollywood actors as brand ambassadors was intended to leverage their popularity to build consumer trust.
Adebayo, who has often championed Nigerian culture in his films, said partnering with the brand felt consistent with his core values.
“It is important to support products that reflect our heritage,” he said.
Zubby Michael echoed similar sentiments, describing the drink as a “proudly Nigerian product” that aligns with the themes in his works. He added that its mild taste could appeal beyond traditional bitters’ consumers.
On her part, Destiny Etiko, who admitted she rarely drinks alcohol, said she found the beverage surprisingly smooth. “I think a lot of women will like it because it’s not harsh,” she remarked.
Media personality, Pooja Sulaiman and legal practitioner, Eno Mbanugo also spoke at the event, with the latter highlighting the perceived wellness benefits of herbal bitters in general.
The launch reflects a familiar strategy in Nigeria’s competitive beverage market, where companies increasingly turn to showbiz celebrities to cut through the noise and connect with younger consumers.
