Feb 17 deadline for old notes – CBN don release guidelines

Di CBN don already yarn say di old N200, N500 and N1000 no go dey recognized as legal tender, despite di Supreme Court ruling. Also, di apex bank  CBN on Tuesday release di guidelines for deposit of old notes for any of dia branches across di country from February 15 and 17.

CBN explain say in exchange for di old notes, di bank account wey dey provided by di depositor go dey redited after critical observation.

According to di CBN, dem say your bank no go give you new notes; instead your bank account go dey credited after your account dem validated by law enforcement.

Although he mention say this process fit takeup to four weeks, di guideline yarn say di deposited notes no go enter di owner account if  validation of di owner account turn out negative.

Also, deposits by third party no dey allowed; di account information wey dey provided must be di depositor own.

Account owners dey required to complete online application form and to generate reference number before dem go di CBN.

Although for cases where di customer no pre-fill dia form, he/she go get di opportunity to fill di form for di branch.

Requirements na di reference code wey dem generate from di CBN portal, an active bank account, Bank Verification Number, BVN, and a valid government identity card.

In addition, as CBN release those guidelines, di advice add say di Cash Deposit Window dey open to di public from today until Friday between 9am to 2pm daily.
