Half-Trained Soldier: Defence Chief Warns of High Risk

Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, don talk say any soldier wey never complete im training fit become serious danger to the lives of civilians. E talk dis one during one interview for “30 Minutes,” a programme for Trust TV.

Musa express im concern about how di security situation for Nigeria dey worsen, especially as e relate to internal challenges. E talk say dem dey put effort to recruit more personnel to join di fight against bandits and terrorists.

However, General Musa yan say e dey important to take time for di training of soldiers, make dem no rush am, so dat e no go cause wahala. According to am, if dem train soldiers wey never complete their training well, e fit result in serious danger to civilians for di country.

In im words, “We dey recruit people every year for di Army, nothing less than 12,000. But e never reach, we dey try to increase di number. Police, Air Force, and Navy dey recruit too, e no dey one-sided.”

E add say di cost to take care of di new recruits plenty, but dem no dey rush di training process. Dem dey make sure say di soldiers complete their training well so dem no go waka come dey harm civilians.

Musa talk say, “We want to make sure say once you do your first six months, we go give you another three months, so we dey sure say when you waka come out, you no go just dey kill civilians anyhow.

“I want also talk say sometimes e dey look like say dis operation dey take time because e no be like di normal one wey we dey do before.”

E yarn say di approach to di operation fit dey different because of di unconventional nature of di security challenges wey dem dey face. Musa reassure say dem go continue to dey make effort to secure di lives and properties of di people.
