Naira Scarcity Worry Abuja: ATMs No Fit Give Cash
Some areas for Federal Capital Territory (FCT) dey see shortage of Naira as Christmas dey come closer for Naija.
For AYA area for Abuja, seven commercial banks no fit give people money as dem bin try collect cash on Thursday. DAILY POST person wey go check the ATMs talk say for about one week now, e no fit withdraw any money.
But as e be, Point of Sale (POS) operators full ground for front of these banks dey do business well-well.
One of the POS operators, Samuel, talk say the ATMs no dey give cash like before. E talk say dem fit see money for only some hours for the day.
“Since December start, these ATMs no dey give cash well. Naira scarce well-well and e fit be because December dey come. But na only CBN fit explain dis new scarcity,” Samuel yarn.

This wahala dey happen even as Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) don direct say old and new Naira notes still dey legal for Naija.
Even Supreme Court don grant government prayer to extend deadline for use of N200, N500, and N1,000 notes.
CBN talk say: “Make nobody get doubt, Supreme Court don order say old N200, N500, and N1,000 notes still dey legal tender with the new ones.
“So, according to Section 20(5) of the CBN Act 2007, all banknotes wey Central Bank of Nigeria issue go remain legal tender forever.”
