FG advise Parent Make dem Allow Health Workers Deworm Children
Di Federal Government on Wednesday for Abuja advise parents and caregivers make dem allow health workers administer deworming drugs to Deworm children for di prevention of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs).
Dem make di call during di community outreach for di treatment of schistosomiasis and soil-transmitted helminthiasis.
Helminthiasis na infestation with one or more intestinal parasitic roundworms wey include whipworms, hookworms and ascaris.
While dem dey give di advice, Mr Fatai Oyediran, Director, Snake Envenoming Unit, NTDs Division for di Ministry of Health, criticize di poor response by parents. Hin yarn say parents suppose allow Allow health workers deworm children with di mass drug administration to prevent NTDs.
Additionally, Oyediran mention say di NTDs dey always affect pipo for rural communities, especially di poor. Di reason na because of poor personal hygiene, inadequate water supply and infrastructure for di grassroots.
