Presidential election: Fake news peddlers on rampage as Nigerians await tribunal judgement

As Nigerians dey wait for di final decision of di Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, PEPT, on di petitions challenging election of President Bola Tinubu, some rumour peddlers dey on rampage and dem don dey share unverified news.

Di petition filed by di Labour Party, LP, and dia candidate, Peter Obi and hin Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, counterpart, Atiku Abubakar wey for dey challenge di outcome of di February 25 poll still dey pending for court.

Some indications show say di tribunal fit announce di date for di judgement in no distant time.

On Wednesday, report emerge online, dem tok say a member of di court five-member panel, Justice Boloukuoromo Ugo tender hin resignation following alleged pressure from di ruling party.

Prior to di report of Mr Ugo resignation, di Supreme Court on Tuesday deny similar allegations wey tok say di Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Olukayode Ariwoola purportedly bin dey on telephone call with President Bola Tinubu in regards to di latter’s case before di presidential election court.

In addition, di reports claim say Tinubu and di CJN recently bin dey on phone conversation, and dem discuss how to pressurise di presidential election court in a bid to rule in favour of di ruling party.
